Her full name is Rokhsaneh Ghawam-Shahidi.
Shahidi, who was born on March 12, 1983, in Manchester, Lancashire, England, UK, began her career as a yoga instructor before turning to acting.
Prior to making her television acting debut, she began her career as a member of the Contact Young Actors Company in 2004 and later worked for Peskar Productions as a drama workshop leader for a number of years in Oldham and Bolton.
Her theatre credits include East is East, Janus (for West Yorkshire Playhouse), Christie Malry’s Own Double Entry at the Palace Theatre, Manchester, Freshly Scratched (for the Battersea Arts Centre) and Rafta, Rafta.
She has also performed in radio plays, such as Nadeem Aslam’s Maps for Lost Lovers.
She played Shahrazad in the Manchester Library Theatre Company production of Arabian Nights from November 2012 to January 2013 at the Lowry Theatre in Salford, near Manchester.
