Taylon Nichelle Celestine, a 22-year-old female, has been identified as the person responsible for shooting at vehicles on I-10.
According to reports, she had recently checked out of a local hotel and claimed that she was instructed by “God” to go on a shooting spree in relation to the solar eclipse.
Driving a purple Dodge Challenger with Georgia plates, she entered I-10 at the 112-mile marker and headed westbound.
Within 5 miles, she fired multiple shots at another vehicle, hitting it multiple times.
The driver of that vehicle was injured by glass fragments and grazed by a bullet but managed to steer their car to safety.
Continuing on I-10, the suspect shot at another vehicle near the 107-mile marker, injuring the driver in the neck.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
Responding Troopers located the suspect near the 96- mile marker and conducted a felony traffic stop.
After the suspect was taken into custody, troopers recovered an AR-15 and a 9mm handgun within the purple Challenger.
Celestine is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and improper discharge of a firearm.
The FHP Bureau of Investigations and Intelligence (BCII) is leading the ongoing investigation. No further details are available at this time.
