Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah says the Senegal 92 Black Stars team is the best Black Stars team in history.
Despite the issues with the Black Stars in the early 90s and the rise and fall of that team in particular, Stephen Appiah says the many stars in the team puts it a notch above all the other Black Stars team.
Appiah was Black Stars captain for 8 years and captained Ghana at their first ever World Cup in 2006. Despite that being one of the highest moments in the history of the team,Stephen Appiah believes the 92’ team beats his 06’ team.
Stephen Appiah was speaking in an Instagram live interview with TV3’s Yaw Ofosu Larbi when he made this comment, saying;
“I didn’t get the opportunity to watch the [19]63 team, I couldn’t watch the 1982 team but I had the chance to watch the [19]92 squad,” he told 3news.com’s Yaw Ofosu Larbi in an Instagram Live interview.
“Edward Ansah was our goalkeeper. We had Number 2 in Nii Darko Ankrah, we had in Number 3 our former coach, Kwesi Appiah. Frimpong Manso and Emmanuel Armah. Tony Baffoe, Prince Polley, Stanley Aborah, Nii Odartey Lamptey, Ali Ibrahim, Tony Yeboah and Abedi Pele.”
Appiah represented Ghana at 3 AFCONs and two world cups.
