Grief hangs heavy over the rural community of Toogoolawah, Queensland, following the sudden loss of 19-year-old Madison Jardine in a tragic road accident.

Just days into the new year, a collision on the busy Brisbane Valley Highway claimed her life, leaving family and friends reeling in the wake of this devastating event.

Ms. Jardine’s vehicle collided with a truck traveling in the opposite direction around 5pm on Wednesday.

Despite the valiant efforts of emergency responders, she succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The truck driver, a 36-year-old man, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Brisbane’s Prince Alexandra Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

Toogoolawah State High School tributes

As news spread of her death, Toogoolawah State High School principal Ross Jardine posted a tribute for Ms Jardine on the school’s Facebook page.

‘It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that I share the devastating news of the passing of Madison Jardine,’ Ms Jardine said.

‘Madison, who graduated Year 12 in 2021, was involved in a fatal traffic accident at Esk on the evening of January 3.

‘Madison’s presence at Toogoolawah State High School left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

‘Her gentle spirit, kindness and dedication made her a highly regarded member of our school community.’

Ms Jardine encouraged the school community to ‘cherish’ and remember the late teen as they came to terms with the loss.

‘To Madison’s siblings, who currently attend Toogoolawah State High School, we extend our deepest condolences,’ she said.

‘Our deepest condolences also extend to Madison’s parents and to their extended families and friends.

‘I have reached out to Madison’s parents and assured them that our school community stands ready to offer support, comfort and assistance in any way we can.’
