Dylan Butler has been identified as the suspected Iowa school shooter, who injured three people including the principal before turning the gun on himself.
Dylan Butler was a senior at Perry High School.
Police have not confirmed the identification.
The shooting took place at about 7.30am local time (1.30pm UK time) at Perry High School and officers arrived seven minutes later, the sheriff added.
A huge amount of emergency vehicles surrounded the building that houses both the town’s middle school and high school after the shooting.
The incident resulted in the injury of three individuals, including the school’s principal, Dan Marburger.
Marburger was swiftly taken to the hospital and is currently undergoing surgery for gunshot wounds.
The other two injured parties were reported to be students.

Hours before the shooting took place at 7:37 am, Butler posted a TikTok posing in what appeared to be the school bathroom, with the caption: ‘Now we wait.’
The senior pulled an odd face, as a blue duffle bag sat on the ground of the stall.
Butler posted the TikTok selfie with the song ‘Stray Bullet’ playing in the background.
In December, just weeks before the shooting, Butler posted another video on the same social media account of him sitting on children’s playground equipment with a friend, pretending to be in a gun fight using sticks.

Parents say 15-year-old son was wounded in Perry school shooting
Kevin Shelley, who drives a garbage truck and said he has two kids who go to Perry High School, told his boss he had to run. “It was the most scared I’ve been in my entire life,” he said.
Zander Shelley, 15, was in a hallway waiting for the school day to start when he heard gunshots and dashed into a classroom, according to his father, Kevin Shelley. Zander was grazed twice and hid in the classroom before texting his father at 7:36 a.m.
Kevin Shelley said they took Zander to Iowa Methodist Medical Center, where he’s being checked out and treated.
