Early Life
In the south African province of KwaZulu-Natal, Lalela Mswane was born in Richards Bay – she was the youngest of three children with an older brother and sister.
In 2010, her father had passed away, while her mother had worked as a clerk and provided for her family.

Education
She attended Crawford Preparatory and Pro Arte Alphen Park High School, which are both in Pretoria.
Mswane graduated with a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Pretoria after completing her secondary education.

Earlier in her career, Mswane was a professional model signed to Alushi Models in South Africa.
In July 2015, she participated in the Matric Experience pageant and placed as a runner-up, which launched her career in the world of pageants.
Mswane made it to the shortlist of 30 women for the Miss South Africa 2021 contest on 6 July 2021.
In a further interview and public vote, she was chosen as one of the ten semifinalists that advanced to the televised final on 3 August.
Miss South Africa 2021 Winner
On 16 October, the finals of Miss South Africa 2021 took place at Grand West Arena in Cape Town.
Mswane advanced to the top five after participating in both the swimsuit and evening gown portions of the contest.
A round of questions and answers followed, and she was chosen as one of the three finalists before winning the Miss South Africa 2021 title.
