Two people who died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 395 in Central Massachusetts Saturday night have been identified as Jordan Pimentel, 31, of Auburn, and Kayla Morey, 35, of Dayville, Connecticut, Massachusetts State Police said Monday.
The two-vehicle crash happened on I-395 in Webster around 10:17 p.m. on Dec. 2. Police said a GMC Sierra pickup was going north in the southbound lane when it hit a Honda CRV head-on near Exit 3.
Pimentel was the driver of the Sierra and Morey was the driver of the Honda, state police said. Both were declared dead onsite. The vehicles were towed from the scene for further investigation, state police said.
The crash shut down both lanes of I-395 south for about five hours, according to police, to accommodate the rescue response and crash reconstruction.
The investigation into the facts and circumstances of the crash, including why Pimentel was going the wrong way and where he entered the wrong side of the highway, is ongoing, police said.
