Lieutenant General Joshua Mohammadu Hamidu (Rtd), Former Chief of Defence Staff dead at 85

Former Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General (Rtd) Joshua Mohammadu Hamidu, a former Chief of Defence Staff has been reported dead.

News of his death broke out early Tuesday 2nd February 2021. Reports from a close family person suggest that he died in the late hours of Monday 1st February 2021 at the 37 Military Hospital where he was admitted after a short illness. He passed on aged 85.

Before his demise, he was a retired Lieutenant General who had served in the Ghana Army and also the former Chief of Defence Staff in the Akufo Addo led administration in 2001.

He also served as the High Commissioner for Ghana in Nigeria. 

The family of the deceased have said that they will communicate arrangements of his burial in due time.
