A man identified as Arturo Cordero Martinez has been arrested by the Asheville Police Department for allegedly shooting and killing another man Saturday morning in west Asheville.
Officers say the shooting happened on East Oakview Road around 11:40 a.m.
Upon arrival, police located a man with several gunshot wounds. EMS arrived at the scene shortly after officers but the victim had succumbed to his wounds.
He was identified as 37-year-old Ismael Munoz.
Officers say Arturo Cordero Martinez was arrested Saturday night just outside of Ferdinand, IN by Indiana State Police.
Investigators will work with the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office to extradite Martinez to North Carolina where he faces a 1st degree murder charge.
