Award-winning actor and producer Van Vicker has expressed concerns about the way and manner food is being distributed in Ghana amidst the COVID 19 pandemic.
According to the actor, the way and manner food is being distributed is scary because it will even spread the virus more.
More philanthropic work is being carried out across Ghana by the government and philanthropists in the fight of the corona virus. Many people during these hard times have taken it upon themselves to do charitable works so the needy and less privileged can feel a sense of belonging. However, most videos seen on social media looks quite scary as social distancing protocols are highly breached especially during the distribution of food.
In a post on his Instagram page, Van Vicker made reference to a video of how food is being distributed outside Africa and called on authorities in charge of food distribution in Ghana to see if they can apply the same mode in distribution of food.
He wrote;
“I know here in Ghana our people mean well by helping to distribute food to the needy, excellent initiative. However, we might want to reconsider the food distribution method which seems to defeat the whole purpose of the exercise.
It defeats social distancing, it defeats people gathering with no mask. It is rather promoting the spread of the virus, essentially. Extremely disquieting.
I got the video I posted here as a forward and it pleased me so I decided to share hoping the right person sees it and change the food distribution method.. #covid #staysafe #vanvicker”
