Celebrated reggae and dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy has opened up on what the future holds for A-List artistes in the Ghanaian music industry by admitting that some new artistes might probably become hotter and better than him and his colleague artistes are in the near future.
He was in an interview with Hit Fm’s KMJ on Tuesday when he made this statement.
His statement follows a response to a statement made by veteran hip-life artiste Tic Tac on his view that the Ghanaian music industry is currently being run by 3 artistes, a situation he described as unfortunate for the Ghanaian music industry.
As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, Stonebwoy said he honestly holds the view that the issue has to do with how every generation embraces the style of music being done by artistes. He said in the next 10 years, he and some of his A-List colleagues might probably see other artistes becoming hotter than they are now. “To be sincere, 10 years from now some other squad will be hotter when we wouldn’t be that hot. Every season or every 5 to 10 years, we do have a crop of artistes who will make it to the top league.”
The dancehall artiste showed his respect for Tic Tac but disclosed that some years ago, Tic Tac was making all the news when some of them were nowhere to be found. He added that being relevant was seasonal and should be respected as such.
Stonebwoy disclosed that as an artiste, he gets scared when he sees some statements of that nature being made and advocated that they position themselves well in life so that in the future when some of these issues pop up, they don’t worry about it. “I think it’s how we position ourselves well in these times and still feel confident and comfortable and not even bother about certain things.”
