Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo has been appointed as acting vice-chancellor of the University of Ghana by the University of Ghana Council.
Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the new vice-chancellor succeeds Professor Ebenezer Oduro Owusu.
On August 1, 2021, Prof. Appiah Amfo will begin serving as Acting Vice-Chancellor.
She will serve as interim Vice-Chancellor of the University until the permanent Vice-Chancellor is appointed.
Prior to her appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Professor Amfo served as Pro-Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs at the university.
The decision was made following the installation of the new Council, according to a press release signed by Mercy Haizel-Ashia, the University’s Registrar.
Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo attended Holy Child School and Archbishop Porter Girls’ Secondary School during her secondary education.
From 1991 to 1996, she studied at the University of Ghana for a Bachelor’s degree in French and Linguistics.
She holds both a MPhil (2001) and a PhD (2007) in Linguistics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway.
