A shooting in Richmond’s Mosby Court neighborhood on Thursday evening has left a heartbreaking toll. Two individuals were killed, and a 17-year-old male sustained injuries.

Responding to reports of gunfire shortly before 7 pm on April 11, officers arrived at the 1600 block of Spotsylvania Street.

Richmond Police Chief Edwards confirmed the deaths of Monique Lambert and Jaymon, a father of four, who was found outside the residence.

“It is a sad day,” Edwards said. “There are four children without their parents tonight, and that’s why we ask the whole Richmond team to come to the scene to try to offer some hope and some help to these family members and this whole community that is reeling right now from this violence.”

Fortunately, the children are currently with close relatives.

A 17-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound was located nearby and transported to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Authorities believe this incident is a single connected event.

The Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death for the deceased individuals.
