The former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi has been formally charged by an Accra High Court for fraud with bail set at ¢1m.
Former president of the GFA, Kwasi Nyantakyi , who has been banned from all football related activities by the global governing body for thw sport, FIFA, together with one Abdulai Alhassan has now received another charge.
The case dates back to 2018 when Mr. Nyantakyi and Abdulai Alhassan( who was then serving as the Northern Regional Football Association chairman) were caught in an expose titled Number 12 by ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
In the Expose,The former football administrator was alleged to have used the President’s name to peddle influence.
There have been calls by the public to take this seriously and have him investigated. The president officially reported the case to the CID after which investigations took place.
Victoria Asiedu who is the Principal State Attorney on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, told an Accra High Court that the two individuals executed a Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of a non-existent company claiming to be attracting sponsorship for the Ghana Premier League
The AG’s office in the documents filed in court list the charges against him as conspiracy to commit fraud, fraud and corruption by public officer.
Mr. Nyantakyi was admitted to bail in the sum of 1 million cedis with three sureties, one to be justified.
Same conditions apply to Mr. Alhassan. They are also required to report every Friday at the police CID. The case has been adjourned to March 25 for case management conference.
