The Deputy Minister for Information, Hon. Pius Enam Hadzide has described the actions of the former AIDS ambassador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah in a viral video as intentional and political.
In an interview with Accra based Okay fm on Monday, the deputy minister said the actions of the woman were unfortunate and a deliberate scheme to propagate a false message to the Western world. “Everybody watching the video will realize that the intentions of this lady were not to raise funds to help build the cathedral. Its political”
The former AIDS ambassador, Joyce Dzidzor Mensah was seen in a viral video which hit social media appealing for funds in a rather sarcastic manner in a train full of westerners. In the said video, she was telling the people to help raise funds to build a cathedral for a country with poor health structures and poor educational systems which has students studying under trees. This has generated a number of comments, some siding with her about misplaced priorities, with others criticizing her for selling the country negatively to the western world.
In the phone interview monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, Hon. Hadzide told Kwame Nkrumah Tikesie,, host of morning show ADE AKYE EDWA that the lady wasn’t tasked to raise funds for the project and that he personally sees the intentions of the lady as a step to ridicule the project. “Nobody asked her to go out and seek for funds to build a cathedral. I personally think she didn’t intend to raise funds for the building of the cathedral. Her intentions were to ridicule the project.
Hon Hadzide added that he personally thinks the committee will not choose someone of her caliber to go and raise funds for the cathedral, adding that the lady at a point claimed to have slept with top ranking members of the opposition party, NDC, something he heard some time back. “Even if the committee will send someone to go out there and raise funds to help build the cathedral, I am not sure it will be someone like her. I’ve heard she went on facebook to say she has slept with some of the leaders of opposition party, NDC”
He further stated that the whole scheme seems planned out because someone was responsible for taking the video. He said it was quite strange for people to think that way, considering the fact that they have no message to attack the president with, forcing them to stoop so low to engage in this act. “if you watch the video, someone was taking the video. She can’t take the video herself. I think it’s a plot to ridicule the project. If it’s not a plot, no one will take this video and bring it out like that. This is not rocket science, its politics.”
The Deputy Minister said he personally thinks the act shouldn’t be given too much attention and should pass. “to me, we should let this pass because it’s just politics.”
