Female Musicians Need Support To Stay Relevant In The Music Industry - Eazzy

Ghanaian musician, Mildred Ashong, popularly known as Eazzy has called for support for female musicians to enable them last longer and stay relevant in the Ghanaian music industry.

The musician in an interview with Accra based Hitz Fm on Friday was addressing the issue of why most females fade away quickly from the music scene.

As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, she told Andy Dosty, host of Daybreak Hitz that it isn’t easy for ladies to be persistent in the Ghanaian music industry. She said for the first 3 years, things go smoothly for most ladies, with respect to hit songs, shows, tours (both Ghana and outside Ghana) making their names household names. However after 3 years, it becomes a matter of relevance and how to sustain the career and also make money for record labels they are signed on.

The Kpakpo Shito hit maker explained that the trend in the music industry allows guys to play around with words and still makes hit songs with them and go scot-free with them. However, ladies face backlashes from society when that happens and at a point, a female musician needs to put being a lady first before playing around with words. “We still have to remember we are that we are ladies, so you can’t get away with certain things”.

She indicated that it will take continues support from stakeholders to enable female ladies to still stay relevant with their delivery.

Eazzy was in the studios to promote her new EP. Describing the type of music she does, she said she was an afro-pop hip pop artiste.
