News reaching our news desk indicates that the suspect in Kayla Stevenson murder has been identified as Kaysone Sky Blossom.
Kaysone Sky Blossom is 37 years old.
Currently she has been charged with capital murder in connection with Stevenson’s death.
She was arrested at her home and booked into the Harris County Jail.
What happened
The stabbing occurred around 11 a.m. in the 5100 block of West Alabama, a street that runs through the Galleria shopping complex, police said.
Stevenson was walking to work when she was stabbed multiple times, police said. She died at the scene.
Witnesses told police they saw a woman attack Stevenson and take a handbag from her.
The woman ran from the scene of the stabbing on a bicycle, police said.
Stevenson was the mother of a 6-month old girl and was working two jobs to save for a car, her mother told KTRK.
Blossom was arrested Wednesday morning by a team of SWAT officers at her home in the 10200 block of Beechnut.
Police said Blossom was identified as a suspect through “further investigation and tips from members of the community.”
Blossom was being held at the Harris County Jail on Wednesday night. Her bond hadn’t been set and she didn’t have a listed defense attorney.
Blossom is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday morning, according to court records.
