Watford and England striker Danny Welbeck has donated food and relief items to the people of Nkawie, his hometown in Ghana to support them amidst the COVID 19 outbreak.
Danny Welbeck, who is also called Daniel Nii Tackie Bio Mensah Welbeck, has not shied away from his Ghanaian roots and has always supported them when he could.
The former Manchester United, Arsenal and Sunderland striker, who is recoveribg from an injury is in quarantine as demanded by his club officials in this period of COVID 19.
Making the donation on behalf of the player, his aunt, Charlotte Adwoa Tumutuom said,
“Danny has been very concerned about how his people would survive these trying times; though he has never lived here, he has a great affection for the people of Ghana, so he felt it prudent to offer some help in the very small way that he can to support the government’s efforts in these times”.
Speaking via video call, Danny Welbeck also spoke to the community, saying;
“Let’s all join hands to fight and defeat COVID-19 together, by behaving in ways that would help stop the spread”.
Welbeck won the Premier League with Manchester United in, 2013 and also the FA Cup twice with Arsenal in 2015 and 2017.
