Zachary Fink (born 1998 – age 26) served as Florida Highway Patrol trooper and tragically lost his life on February 2nd, 2024.
Fink was a three-year veteran of the FHP in the St. Lucie County area.

What happened
Trooper Zachary Fink was killed early Friday after his cruiser collided with a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in St. Lucie County, Florida, about an hour north of West Palm Beach.
Fink was taken to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce.
Troopers said Fink was in pursuit of a fleeing felon in St. Lucie County.
A man has been detained in connection with Fink’s death, Port St. Lucie police said.

In a social media post, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Trooper Zachary Fink was “killed in the line of duty while attempting to detain a fleeing felon in St. Lucie County.”

Honoring Trooper Zachary Fink
Early Friday morning, around 7:30 a.m., law enforcement officers from around the region began to arrive at the hospital in response to the death in the line of duty.
Dozens of state and local officers, troopers and other officials congregated near the hospital’s ambulance entrance until 10:05 a.m. when an FHP honor guard escorted Fink’s body into a St. Lucie County Fire District ambulance.
Led by five motorcycle officers and flanked by four, the ambulance then pulled away from the hospital and turned left onto Nebraska Avenue.
A procession of more than 40 law enforcement vehicles with flashing lights followed the ambulance as it left the hospital campus towards South 25th Street and ultimately to the medial examiner’s office.
A multitude of local police, deputies, chiefs and FHP representatives were at the Christ Fellowship Church in Port St. Lucie, for a news conference at noon.
Some there include Port St. Lucie Acting Police Chief Richard Del Toro, Fort Pierce Police Chief Diane Hobley-Burney, St. Lucie County Sheriff Keith Pearson, Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder and State Rep. Toby Overdorf.
Police advise motorists to use Florida’s Turnpike to avoid the Port St. Lucie area.
