Member of Parliament for Tamale South and minority leader in parliament, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu has said that his party, the National Democratic Congress will form the majority in the 8th parliament.

Haruna Iddrisu made this assertion in an interview with Accra based City FM.

The NDC is currently disputing the legitimacy of the Techiman South and Sefwi constituency results. According to the party, it won those two seats and is hopeful that its legal battle with the EC will come in its favour.

In his interview, Haruna Iddrissu noted that he is sure the NDC will win the case and thus constitute the majority in the 8th parliament which is scheduled to dissolve midnight Wednesday. He added that he is an aspiring majority leader in parliament.

“I am now an aspiring Majority Leader with Techiman South and the Sefwi to be secured and if that travesty of electoral injustice against the National Democratic Congress is reversed as it should in the interest of justice and peace, we will form a majority”he said.

Early on, news broke about the party’s decision to select Honourable Agban Gbagbin as the next speaker of parliament after the NPP chose Right Honourable Mike Ocquaye as the its next speaker.
