San Antonio Police disclosed on Wednesday that a third individual has been apprehended in relation to the brutal murders of 18-year-old Savanah Soto and her 22-year-old boyfriend, Matthew Guerra.
Myrta Romanos, aged 47, now faces three felony charges, including the alteration, destruction, or concealment of a human corpse, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with evidence, as confirmed by a spokesperson from the San Antonio Police Department (SAPD).
The arrest of Christopher Preciado, 19, on January 3rd marked the initial breakthrough in the case.
Preciado, charged with capital murder, was joined in custody by his 53-year-old father, Ramon Preciado.
The newly apprehended suspect, Myrta Romanos, is implicated in the sinister events surrounding the double homicide.
The charges brought against her underscore the severity of her alleged involvement.
Police described Romanos as a “step-mother” to Christopher and in a relationship with Ramon.
They lived in the same home, police said.
On Dec. 23, Soto and Guerra were reported missing after she didn’t show up to a hospital where she was scheduled to be induced.
Three days later, on Dec. 26, their bodies were found in his parked car at a San Antonio, Texas, apartment complex.
Police said at the time that an unborn child was also a victim in what they considered a capital murder investigation.
Soto was expecting a baby boy, according to her family, who said she planned to name him Fabian.
