A 6 year old girl identified as Laynah Ross has been shot and killed in Old East Dallas.
Dallas police responded to a call in the vicinity of Fitzhugh and Fuqua at approximately 2:40 p.m.
The authorities reported that 6-year-old Laynah Ross was discovered with a gunshot wound.
Sadly, the child was transported to a local hospital in critical condition and succumbed to her injuries.
A neighbor expressed, “She was a sweet little girl when my little kids played with her.”
As per reports, the 14-year-old brother of the girl passed away a few days ago.
The Dallas Police Department received a call at around 4:40 a.m. on Friday, December 29, reporting a shooting in the 3100 block of Harry Hines Boulevard.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered 14-year-old Ah-bralen Rider and another 14-year-old boy with gunshot wounds.
Both victims were promptly transported to Parkland Memorial Hospital.
Unfortunately, Rider succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the hospital, while the other victim is expected to recover.
Initially charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, the 16-year-old suspect is now facing upgraded charges of manslaughter following Rider’s death.
The police department has not disclosed the identity of the gunman, and the investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing.
