Award winning dancehall artiste, Livingstone Etse Tsekleta known in showbiz as Stonebwoy has stated emphatically that the issue surrounding Menzgold, a brand he was an ambassador for is no way affecting his brand as an artiste.
Stonebwoy was speaking to Joy News at the launch of the Independence Day Concert at the Labadi beach Hotel on Thursday.
The BET award winner said he is ready any day to come out and defend himself when it comes the Menzgold saga because he doesn’t see how he as an ambassador should be affected with the on-going issues. “My brand is clean. It’s not tainted at all in anyway and if am called to speak I will any day”
The dancehall artiste was signed together with other celebrities to be ambassadors of Menzgold and ever since the issue involving the company and Bank Of Ghana And EOCO came out, most of these celebrities have been mute about the issue.
In the said interview with Joy News, Stonebwoy said he was only contracted as an artiste to do a job for a company which he did and doesn’t see how the company’s issues with authorities affect him as an artiste. He added that the issue was bigger than him and that even the President hasn’t spoken about it. “This Menzgold issue is a big one. I’ll start by saying our father the president always addresses issues but with this issue he hasn’t spoken yet.”
He further established that the best he could have done as an artiste is to calm down the nerves of demonstrators who are agitated and are requesting for their monies, something he has done. “I as an ambassador, if I love my people, the best thing I could have done was to put in a word and tell them to keep calm because it’s the best way to go about it.”
He noted that many of these agitated demonstrators were paid during the early days of Menzgold but are now demonstrating against the company. “ Many people will be running and saying my money my money but those people have had their dividends paid before this issue and what is actually left is not what they asking for”.
