Movenpick Staff Demonstrate Over Alleged Racism Treatment

Some staff of 5-star hotel, Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra have demonstrated on Wednesday following what they describe as ‘racism treatment’ against them.

In all, about 100 working staff were captured at the reception area of the hotel chanting war songs and insisting that the general manager Michael Rathgob be dismissed for allowing partial and harsh treatments against them.

According to some of the staff who were demonstrating, the management of the hotel treated Ghanaian workers who were involved in minor offenses very harshly and even dismissed them whereas foreign staff were overlooked when they commit similar offenses. They insisted that the action by management has been occurring since 2011 and that they were fed up.

The loud roars of the angry staff demonstrating attracted some guests who were left unattended to as they watched proceedings at the reception.

Meanwhile, management has not made any official statement to address the issue.
