A student died after they were struck by a school bus Tuesday.
The student, a 15-year-old girl, was struck by a school bus while crossing Veterans Memorial Parkway, Clark County Coroner told The National Desk.
The fatal crash happened before the start of the school day at the intersection of Ironworks Road and Veterans Memorial Parkway
Clark County Public Schools in Kentucky identified the victim as a student who attended George Rogers Clark High School.
School officials asked the community for prayers as the investigation unfolded into the “terrible event.”
They posted about the bus accident around 8:12 a.m. About two hours later, school officials wrote they were “heartbroken” over the girl’s death.
The coroner’s officer identified the girl as freshman, McKenna Letcher.
According to the school district, the bus involved belongs to them.
Pastoral staff and grief counselors were made available for students who were on the bus and students impacted by the deadly crash.
