A 16-year-old Willard boy was killed after a two-vehicle traffic crash in Greenfield Township on Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Norwalk Post.
The Patrol reported that Logan Lewis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the second vehicle, Benjamin D. McKillips, 45 of Berlin Heights, sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Willard Hospital, where he was then transferred to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo by Life Flight.
The crash happened at approximately 7:15 a.m. on State Route 61 in Huron County.
The preliminary investigation showed a 2014 Dodge Avenger operated by Lewis, was northbound on State Route 61. A 2012 Freightliner semi-truck and trailer, operated by McKillips, was southbound on State Route 61.
The Patrol stated the Dodge traveled left of the centerline and struck the semi-truck head-on. Post collision, the Dodge Avenger came to rest off the east side of State Route 61.
The semi-truck came to rest off the west side of State Route 61.
The truck also caught fire after the collision.
The crash remains under investigation at this time.
