Marvin, who had no prior knowledge of black slave ownership, admitted to expecting some connection to slavery in his family’s history, but never envisioned his own lineage intertwined with slaveholding.

This revelation came as a surprise to Marvin, who admitted on the show that he had never considered the possibility that black people had participated in slavery.

While he anticipated discovering links to slavery in his family history, he never imagined that one of his ancestors would be an owner.

The show also shed light on the tragic fate of Marvin’s paternal great grandmother, Mabel.

After her husband abandoned her for another woman, she was left heartbroken and eventually ended up in an asylum in Kingston, Jamaica.
