I was offered Speaker of Parliament role 'internally' but I Declined For for Bagbin – Asiedu Nketiah Reveals

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has revealed that his Party proposed him to be the Speaker of the 8th Parliament.

There was drama at the Inauguration of the 8th Parliament on 7th January 2021 when the NDC and NPP, with almost equal strength in Parliament, presented their preferred candidates for the Speakership position.

After a lengthy and unusual happening in Parliament, the NDCs preferred candidate, Alban Bagbin was elected Speaker against the NPPs Prof. Mike Ocquaye.

However, in an interview with Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda Amadu, Mr Asiedu Nketiah revealed that Mr Bagbin was not the Party’s first choice.

According to General Mosquito, he declined the offer first before he proposed Mr Bagbin. This, according to Mr Asiedu Nketiah is because Mr Bagbin had more appeal across board than him.
