The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) is investigating a shooting that claimed the life of Annette Touvell, a 65-year-old woman in Lake Charles.

On Saturday evening, around 7:45 p.m., deputies responded to reports of gunfire on W. Tank Farm Road.

Their investigation revealed a drive-by shooting with numerous bullets fired.

A bullet penetrated a nearby residence, striking and fatally injuring the homeowner, Annette D. Touvell.

Annette Touvell was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries.

Another residence in the vicinity was also hit by gunfire, but thankfully, no one inside was hurt.

Sheriff Tony Mancuso stated that there’s no indication Annette Touvell or her family were the intended targets of the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

“We have no reason to believe this home or family was specifically targeted during the shooting. My heart goes out to the victim’s family; this is a sad and tragic situation where an innocent victim lost their life to a senseless crime,” said Mancuso. “Detectives are currently following up on several leads, as well as canvassing the neighborhood for further video footage and possible evidence.”

This is an ongoing investigation.
