Musician and political commentator has added his voice to the defendants of the president for lifting the partial lockdown in Accra and Kumasi.

According to him, those engaging in the condemnation of the president for lifting partial lockdown have flooded their thoughts with too much news from foreign media such as CNN and BBC.

The president on Sunday lifted the partial lockdown in Accra and Kumasi after three weeks. Some section of the Ghanaian populace have questioned the decision of the president asking why he arrived at the decision when the cases are hitting high figures.

Questioning the commentaries of such people on his facebook page, the political commentator stated that the corona virus isn’t as scary as it is. He said with over 1000 people, the death toll is just 9, compared meningitis cases which has hit the North, killing over 40 people.

He added that malaria and other diseases are killing more people than corona virus and needs equal attention. He posted;

“The president stated clearly that his decision to lift the lockdown is backed by science. I put it to you that your disagreement with the president is backed by fear and too much watching of CNN and BBC. From day one I told you Covid-19 in Ghana is called catarrh! The president has confirmed it.

Covid-19, the “world’s deadliest disease” has killed just 9 people in Ghana. All these people had pre existing conditions. Meanwhile meningitis has killed 40 people in Northern Ghana in just a month. Few people have access to medical facilities in the north. This means many people might have died and are still dying. But because it has not been reported on BBC and CNN we have left them to die. We must move resources there now and save lives. Our brothers and sisters up north are dying. Let’s deal with our own issues not CNN and BBC issues.

Malaria, hepatitis, meningitis, cholera, poverty, hunger, these are the real killers. Forgeti coronavirus.

The president has not put a gun to anyone’s head to go out. Neither has he asked the police and military to move from house to house to force people out of their homes. The ban on social gathering is still in force. Social distancing must be observed. You can stay home if you like. Nobody is forcing you.

We should stay home because of a disease that when you take more water and have enough rest you’ll be healed? Because of a disease that in most cases you don’t even have to see a doctor? Because of a disease that will heal by itself if you have a strong immune system?”
