Zanova White, a 24-year-old mother of one from South Bend, Indiana, was shot and killed at an apartment complex on the city’s northwest side on Friday morning.
White attended Palmdale High School, according to her Facebook profile.
A friend of the victim spoke out about the life lost.
“She’s great, wonderful. The best mother you could ever ask for in a woman at that age,” said Jasmine Chatman. “She’s the light of everybody’s party. She gets up in the morning and she stays to herself. She takes her kids to school in the morning. She’s awesome.”
And in the next breath, Chatman spoke directly to the killer.
What know about the South Bend Beacon Heights shooting.
On 3rd November, 2023, officers were called around 8:30 a.m. to the 3400 block Curtiss Drive at Beacon Heights Apartments to investigate a possible shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located Zanova White, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The South Bend Police Violent Crimes Unit is investigating.
Police haven’t said if a man is suspected in this killing, but have said they do not believe the public is at risk.
And when police say they do not believe the public is at risk, it is usually an indication the victim and their killer are somehow connected, and the crime was not a random act.
