Brevard Middle School Principal Tammy Deaver has been suspended and placed on paid administrative leave pending an ongoing investigation.
Parents of Brevard Middle School students on Monday received a notice from the school announcing Tammy Deaver’s suspension.
A Transylvania County Schools district spokesperson said principal Tammy Deaver was suspended with pay during the investigation.
The district has not shared what prompted the investigation or what agencies are involved.
Deaver has been principal since November 2022.
Transylvania County Schools issued the following statement:
Pursuant to N.C.G.S. 115C-325.5(c), the principal at Brevard Middle School was suspended with pay pending an investigation on December 4, 2023. The Board is prohibited from releasing confidential personnel information related to any suspension under North Carolina law. Mrs. Carrie Norris will serve as the acting principal at Brevard Middle School until the completion of an investigation by the administration. A suspension with pay to allow for further investigation is not an indication of actual wrongdoing or misconduct.”
Tammy Deaver was named the new principal of Brevard Middle School in November 28, 2022.
Deaver received a Bachelor’s Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences and teacher certification from Appalachian State University.
She earned her Master’s Degree in School Administration from Gardner Webb.
