The NDC have withdrawn a suit brought against the Electoral Commission over the declaration of the Techiman South Parliamentary results.

Until yesterday, the NDC had filed a writ of mandamus against the Electoral Commission at the Sunyani High Court to compel the commission to re-collate and re-declare the 2020 election results at the Techiman South Constituency.

The NDC, had claimed in a series of press conferences last week that the Techiman South election results was not declared as mandated by law.

However, a video of the declaration was later made available to them, which apparently necessitated their withdrawal of the suit.

Speaking on the issue, a member of the NDC legal team, Baba Jamal explained that the Party had to withdraw their suit because they do not have adequate evidence of wrongdoing.

“You don’t go to court empty-handed. We go with evidence, we don’t have a summary sheet, declaration form and we don’t know what happened. How do we protest the results in court? Because we don’t have any evidence against the results?” He said.
