Police are investigating the deaths of two family members in a Pacific home as a murder-suicide.

The Pacific Police Department has identified the murder victim as 56-year-old Mary Gan.

The other victim, a 26-year-old male, has not been identified by name, but police said in a statement he is believed to be Gan’s son.

Gan suffered a gunshot wound, according to police, and the male “suffered from what is consistent with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

The bodies were first found Monday afternoon.

Pacific’s interim Chief of Police Don Locke said in a statement his department received a call to a home in the 70 block of Cedar Ridge Drive at 1:45 p.m. on Monday.

A family member had gone there after several attempts to reach someone at the home had failed, according to the statement.

That family member called 911 after entering the home.

Police found the victims inside the home.

Forensics experts from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office have assisted with the investigation, according to Sheriff Steve Pelton.

Locke noted the investigation is ongoing and will release more details in the coming days.
