Sad news reaching us this morning indicates that a young woman identified as Shonnie Thomas was fatally shot while sitting in her car late Saturday morning.
Police said it happened around 11 p.m. Saturday at the Greystone Apartments off Old Missouri Avenue, in the 300 block of Greystone Drive.
Her mother took to social media begging for a ride to the Greystone Apartments after hearing that her car was shot up with her inside.
Unfortunately after arriving to the scene, she was given the news that her daughter Shonnie, had passed away.
Neighbors said it’s an area that sees a lot of gunfire.
As of late Sunday, no one has been arrested and police have not named any suspects.

She was 22 years and a hairstylist by profession.
Thomas, a 2019 senior volleyball captain and softball standout at East St. Louis Senior High, was known for uplifting teammates with both exceptional play and vibrant, enthusiastic spirit on and off the court.
