One of the greatest players in NBA history, Bill Russell, has died at the age of 88.
He ‘passed away peacefully at age 88 with his wife, Jeannine Russell, by his side’.
Inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 1975, Bill Russell was married four times, with Jeannine Russell being his 4th wife before he died.
Who is Jeannine Russell, Bill Russell’s wife?
Bill Russell was married Rose Swisher, his college sweetheart, from 1956 to 1973 and they had three children: daughter Karen Russell and sons William Jr. and Jacob. In 1977, he married Dorothy Anstett, Miss USA of 1968.
But, they separated three years later. In 1996, Russell tied the knot with Marilyn Nault and their marriage lasted until her death in 2009.
Russell then married Jeannine Russell, who was a competitive golfer.
Born on January 31, 1967, Jeannine finished 19th at the Canadian Women Tour in Ontario in 2010.
She became the Player of the Year the same year, Fag Wags reported.
It is unclear how they met or when they got married. However, on January 24, 2022, the pair renewed their wedding vows and the NBA player shared the same on his social media.
Considering their age disparity, they must have had a sizable age difference.
Although Jeanine’s age has not been revealed, she appeared considerably younger than her husband, Bill.
In a 2018 Halloween post, Bill wrote that he and Jeannine “go together like Bacon & Eggs”.
On another photo posted, the couple watched the Los Angeles Lakers and the former player captioned the image saying he had a wonderful time with his wife.
Both appeared happy and smiling as Bill wears a Celtics cap.
