I’m Not For Parties ; I Support Good Individuals – Sarkodie

Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Michael Owusu Addo best known by stage name Sarkodie has made a strong statement about his affiliation with political parties in the country and has stated emphatically that he doesn’t support any political party.

In  a facebook post sighted by ghlinks.com.gh, the rapper who didn’t seem to understand why most Ghanaians on social media always questioned his place when he talks about brands said Ghanaians always think he takes money from brands to talk about them.

The King of rap as he is affectionately tagged has over the years released songs questioning leadership in the country and how certain social problems couldn’t be given immediate attention and fixed quickly enough. In his song dumsor for example, the rapper touched on how the issue of frequent power cuts was affecting the Ghanaian market and businesses. However, most of these songs were released during the tenure of the NDC and there hasn’t been a release of the controversial songs during the tenure of the NPP, an issue raising eyebrows among certain political party faithful’s.

In his post, Sarkodie said the issue of releasing songs to criticize economic management carries the same old message and will be a continuous repeat should he release any. He emphasized that it’s about time political leaders give chance to great minds like Apostle Kojo Safo (Kantanka) so they bring their expertise on board to help make Ghana a better place for the new generation.

So question why I can’t I mention any brand in peace??? Any time I try “Sark be that he collect” like why y’all don’t trust me one bit? Even got friends in political parties but can’t even give shouts or take pics with them… I’m not for political I support good individuals… Reason I don’t follow our political parties: I think as soon as they get into power, they change! Personal gains become the order of the day… No one is ready to sacrifice long term for the people and it’s sad

People keep asking? Sark why not talking about the economy? You are NPP right… No!!! I’m not but sometimes it gets frustrating repeating same things you say but I have a better route to go about it… and plus those songs came to me I didn’t force them.

I visited legend Apostle Kojo Safo Kantanka few days ago and I was amazed!!! So I didn’t know he offered to solve dumsor… Before y’all come at me with y’all comment, why are we (the government x the people) not giving him the chance to??

We all guilty … Way forward… the next generation should think differerent. My mum plus aunts are of the old school… there’s nothing you can say to them to change their minds but we the young ones should think different! We must question… The power is in our hands. I just want everyone to be ok at least with the basics.
