A private legal practitioner, cousin to the President, and a Spokesperson for Akuffo Addo’s legal team, Gabby Otchere Darko has caused a massive stir online with his latest comment about the ongoing election petition hearing.
He has registered his displeasure and disappointment over the attempt by the petition to reopen his case and also seek review of the Court’s ruling.
According to Gabby Otchere Darko, the Petitioner has consistently proved his lack of substantial evidence to support his claims of rigging in the elections.
He asserts that the responsibility lies with the petitioner to prove the Electoral Commission did a bad job.
This comment follows the proceedings of the ongoing election petition hearing at the Supreme Court. Mr. Mahama is challenging the outcome of the just-ended elections and the integrity of the Chairperson of the EC.
He argues that, none of the candidates got more than 50% votes to win the election.
Prior to the last sitting of the Court, an attempt was made by the lead Counsel Tsatsu Tsikata to compel Jean Mensah to mount the witness box to be cross-examined.
However, the Chief Justice announced the decision to overrule the request. Mahama led by Tsatsu Tsikata has filed another motion to reopen their case and subpoena, Jean Mensah.
Gabby Asare Otchere Darko in an interview on Joy Newsfile program hosted by Lawyer Samson Anyenini made a bold declaration and sent a strong message to Mahama and his legal team. Read his message below;
“Are they inviting the Court to forget about the rules? They talk about the EC is accountable to the country. The day you declared the results, that is when you are count for your work.”
“The onus is on NDC to show she did not do her job properly. It is simple but, they have failed to prove what she did wrong. They claim Akuffo Addo did not get the 50% votes. Now, the question is; What did he get or what numbers are you presenting to the Court as evidence?”
