Former Colombia international and Real Madrid player Freddy Rincon has passed away aged 55 in Cali, Colombia.
On Monday reports emerged that Rincon had been involved in a car crash between his own vehicle and a bus.
He was taken to hospital and admitted into emergency surgery immediately after.
After spending three days fighting for his life in an intensive care unit, Rincon passed away late Wednesday night local time.
He had undergone a large brain operation in an attempt to save his life, but was unable to pull through according to Marca.
The former Colombian international has two sons named Freddy Steven and Sebastien Rincon.

Sebastián Rincón Lucumí who was born on 14 January 1994, is a Colombian professional footballer who plays as a right winger or forward in Argentina for Barracas Central.
Rincón started his professional career as a teenager in 2010 with Colombian first-division club Independiente Santa Fe, before moving to Uruguayan club CA Atenas.
Rincón was loaned to Major League Soccer team Portland Timbers on 16 April 2012.
Rincón made his professional debut on 30 May 2013 in a US Open Cup game against Wilmington Hammerheads.
He would go on to earn 13 caps and 2 goals for USL Championship side Portland Timbers 2 during his tenure in Portland.
On 9 July 2021, Argentine club Huracán announced the signing of Rincón.[4] On 6 February 2022, he moved to fellow league club, Barracas Central.
