The family of Eric Montross (Laura, Sarah, Andrew and Megan) is announcing that he passed away on Sunday, December 17, surrounded by loved ones at his home in Chapel Hill.
Eric was diagnosed with cancer in March 2023, and his family is grateful for the tremendous support and the truly overwhelming love expressed by so many people as he battled with his signature determination and grace.
He was a husband, a father to Sarah, Andrew Montross.

Andrew Montross
Andrew Montross has been a Client Success Specialist at Summit Group, LLC, in the Washington DC-Baltimore area since July 2022.
Before this, he worked as a Marketing Intern for Grady-Ahite Boats for almost four months in Greenville, North Carolina.
Andrew completed his Bachelor’s degree in Communication and Media Studies and his MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He was born April 25, 1998 in Detroit, Michigan.
Andrew attended Carrboro High School where he played lacrosse for coach Ron Mitchell.
He was a captain in his senior year and impact player award winner.
He played on a state championship team there and helped lead Carrboro team to first-ever wins over Orange County rivals.
Sarah Montross
Sarah Montross is a part-time respite caregiver at Medicaid in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
She has been working in this role for a year.
Along with her job, she is also pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Health Policy and Management with a minor in Medical Anthropology and Spanish from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
In addition to her academics, Sarah is actively involved in various social clubs such as the Carolina Covid-19 Student Services Corps and UNC English Teaching Program.
