State troopers have identified a Kansas man who died Tuesday morning, Nov. 26, after rear-ending a semi near New Town.
Rance Bennett, 43, of El Dorado, Kansas, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado east on North Dakota Highway 23 about 14 miles west of New Town when he hit a 2012 Kenworth, according to a news release from the State Highway Patrol. Bennett was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene, the release said.
The semi driver, Augustin Solis Munoz, 34, of Westport, Washington, was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, according to state troopers.
The crash that shut down a portion of Highway 23 for several hours remains under investigation, the release said.
New Town is about 95 miles north of Dickinson.
