Dr. Dana Diab is an emergency room physician in New York City.
She was fired from her job in October 2023 after making controversial posts on social media in support of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas.
Diab’s termination joins the growing list of firings related to public support of Hamas in the wake of its war with Israel—a bloody conflict that’s already claimed the lives of approximately 1,400 Israelis and 2,800 Palestinians.
Diab’s early life and education
Dana Diab was born and raised in Palestine.
She attended medical school in Qatar and graduated in 2016.
After graduating, she moved to the United States to complete her residency in emergency medicine.
She completed her emergency medicine residency at Brookdale in 2020.
Diab’s bio page on NYC Health + Hospitals’ website had been removed as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Diab’s social media posts
In October 2023, Diab shared a video on Instagram of a Hamas attack on a music festival in Israel. The attack killed at least 260 people, including many civilians.
Dana Diab’s caption on the video read, “Zionist settlers getting a taste of their own medicine.”

Diab’s posts sparked outrage on social media, and many people called for her to be fired.
Northwell Health, the company that owns Lenox Hill Hospital where Diab worked, fired her on October 17, 2023.
Diab’s termination
In a statement, Northwell Health said that Diab’s comments were “deeply offensive and unacceptable.” The company said that Diab’s views “do not represent Lenox Hill Hospital & Northwell Health & go against our core values.”
Diab’s termination has been met with mixed reactions.
Some people have praised Northwell Health for taking a stand against anti-Semitism.
Others have defended Diab, arguing that she was simply expressing her political views.
Diab’s response
Diab reportedly defended herself by saying that she’d “never called for harm to anyone.”
“I never have and never will abdicate my duty and my oath as a physician,” she said, according to the Post.
Diab was also listed as an employee of New York City’s public health system, according to a screenshot posted by StopAntisemitism.
The since-deleted webpage identified her as an emergency medicine specialist at NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County who speaks both English and Arabic.
