The 20th Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which came off on Saturday had many down moments, but there were lots of moments worth celebrating.
One of such is Sarkodie being crowned the artiste of the decade.
Sarkodie was nominated alongside Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Samini, Becca, Efya, No Tribe and Joe Mettle, equally competitive and high rated artistes who have done incredibly awesome in the music scene over the last decade. He however managed to come top and win the award.
BET International sent a congratulatory message to Sarkodie for winning the prestigious award.
In a post on their official Facebook page, BET International quoted;
“Our MCM has been crowned ‘Artiste of the Decade’ at the 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards! Congrats @Sarkodie #MusicMonday
Sarkodie surfaced in the Ghanaian music industry sometime in 2008 and has done incredibly well for himself since. As a Ghanaian rapper, he is currently the most awarded African rapper, the first Ghanaian artiste to win the prestigious BET Award and the most followed Ghanaian celebrity on social media. His music video Adonai remix which he featured Castro is the most streamed Ghanaian music video on YouTube, with over 60 million streams.
