Angel Sanchez Jr. of Santa Barbara has been arrested for allegedly punching a man in his 60s who was pushing his infant granddaughter in a stroller in a Calabasas neighborhood.
Angel Sanchez Jr arrested in Oxnard on Wednesday evening, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed.
The 29-year-old has been charged with assault with force likely to produce great bodily injury.
Angel Sanchez Jr has also been linked to a previous attack in the 26000 block of Agoura Road.
Police say they are continuing to investigate Sanchez’s motive but confirm that both his victims are of Asian descent.
The disturbing incident took place in the 4000 block of Lost Spring Road in the affluent Calabasas neighborhood on Tuesday.
A star-studded list of residents, including the Kardashians, live a mere stones throw from where the incident took place – leaving wealthy community members shaken.
A video posted to Neighbors, an app where users can upload their ring camera footage, shows a man walking up to the victim as he crossed the road with his granddaughter.
Within a few seconds the man can be seen throwing one brutal punch that threw his victim, the stroller and the 10-month-old to the ground.
After the horrifying incident, the suspect can be seen returning to his car that he’d parked in a resident’s driveway before leaving the crime scene.
Police later identified the vehicle as a silver 2005 Honda Odyssey with Nevada license plate No. 183W80.
The victim eventually finds his footing and checks on his granddaughter who can be seen lying in the stroller that landed on its side after the attack.
The owner of the home where the assailant parked, Greg Higa, uploaded the footage online and expressed revulsion and shock when speaking to KTLA 5 about the incident.
‘It feels really random … this is a safe neighborhood and we’re all just absolutely horrified that something could happen here to someone doing something so innocent like walking their child,’ Higa told the outlet.
Mary Steele said the victim, who she did not identify, is a ‘very nice community member’ and was left perplexed by why he was attacked.
‘He has a beautiful home, people know who he is and the baby is an innocent victim,’ she added.
The attacker is yet to be identified and was seen wearing a dark-colored t-shirt, jeans and a backward-facing baseball hat.
