The search for 15-year-old Amarise Parker, who had not been seen since summer 2023, came to a tragic end this week after Chicago police found her dead inside of a South Side residence.
Around 7:24 p.m., police say Amarise Parker was discovered unresponsive inside a residence in the 7200 block of S. Phillips Ave.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Cause of death
Investigators said Amarise Parker died of asphyxiation from strangulation, and her death was ruled a homicide.
When Amarise Parker was reported missing
Parker, who was was reported missing from the 10900 block of South Wood Street by Chicago police, was last seen on August 30 when she left her home after coming home from school, according to a missing persons alert.
She was seen wearing the same headband pictured above; she was also wearing a white hoodie, a navy blue top, black pants, white shoes, and she carried a white purse and a transparent backpack.
No suspect in custody yet
Police said there was no one in custody in the case late Wednesday, and detectives are investigating.
