The Mahoning County Coroner’s Office today released the name of a man who was killed Tuesday in a shooting on Interstate 680 in Youngstown.
In a news release, the office said the victim is 20-year-old Christian Moretti.
Moretti was killed about 4 p.m. after someone in a passing car fired several shots at the SUV he was driving, which crashed into a concrete barrier a few hundred feet north of the Marshal Street entrance ramp to the freeway.
The road was closed for over an hour as police collected evidence and investigated.
Police had no updates on the case Thursday, only saying the pair of detectives assigned to the case are “working around the clock.”
Moretti’s death is the 15th homicide in Youngstown this year and the second this week.
Last year Youngstown had 22 homicides.
