The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating a quadruple shooting that took place around 1:50 a.m. near 40th and North that left a 38-year-old father of 6 dead.
“I went out and he was right here laid out,” Demetri Burton said.
Just hours after the death of 38-year-old David Anderson, Demetri Burton stopped by where it happened to pay his respects.
“Dave was a good person,” Burton said. “We didn’t expect to come out here and see him laying on the ground because he always kept a good spirit up in here, up in Premier.”
Anderson was working as a security guard at Premier Sports Bar when he and three other people were shot.
While the three other victims, aged 29, 30 and 37, were taken to a local hospital and are expected to survive, Anderson died in Burton’s arms.
“He was laying there bleeding and stuff and we just tried to make sure he was good, [we] tried to help him fight but it didn’t work out like that and he took his last breath with us,” Burton explained. “It’s devastating to just go through this and it’s a tragic loss because he was a good person to everybody, to a lot of people.”
Anderson was a father of six with his youngest being two years old.
“It’s unbelievable to know he’s gone and he ain’t coming back,” Burton said. “I just want everyone to know he was a good brother, and he always will be. I just can’t believe all this violence like this, over nothing.
The investigation is ongoing. Milwaukee police are searching for unknown suspects.
