Zuri Craig, who competed on America’s Got Talent seven years ago and acted in several Tyler Perry plays, has passed away at the age of 44.
His family announced the news in a statement on Instagram, writing: ‘It is with profound sadness that we announce the transition of our beloved son, brother and friend, Zuri Craig.’
They continued: ‘We thank you in advance for your prayers. Please honor our privacy at this unimaginable time of mourning.’
The post was captioned: ‘Please keep our family and friends in your prayers. More info forthcoming… 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 #RIPZuriCraig.’
A cause of death has not yet been revealed.
Who was Zuri Craig?
Zuri Craig was an actor known for his work on some of Tyler Perry’s ‘Madea’ plays.
Craig was born July 20, 1978.
He starred in Madea’s Big Happy Family, Madea Gets a Job, and A Madea Christmas.
The 44-year-old was also a familiar face on America’s Got Talent back in 2015 with his singing partner, Jeffrey Lewis.
Craig and Lewis placed 5th overall on the popular singing competition show.
He and Lewis even appeared on Oprah’s show in the early 2010s, according to TMZ.
Craig was also due to begin a live production, Soul Food Live, next month in Atlanta.
