Multiple award-winning Ghanaian rapper, Kwame Ametepee Tsikata known by stage name M.anifest has thrown more light on how to survive as an artiste in Ghana and has said one needs to have the qualities of an entrepreneur in order to survive as an artiste in Ghana.
The rapper made gave this insight in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Thursday.
As monitored by ghlinks.com.gh, the rapper was responding to the question of which heights he has reached in education and whether he applies his qualifications in his current line of work.
He told Andy Dosty that he holds a degree in Economics and applies it in his line of work as a rapper practically. He further stressed that considering the complex nature of the Ghanaian music industry, an artiste who desires to last longer in the music space needs to toughen up as an entrepreneur in order to survive.
He added that there are no permanent structures sustaining artistes doing music and as such, makes the whole process difficult for them. Therefore, not being an entrepreneur by nature makes the growth process of an artiste difficult.
He further indicated that due to his knowledge in Economics, he and his team are constant on delivery for his fans.
“To be an artiste in Ghana requires you and your team to be entrepreneurial in nature to know what you are doing. There isn’t this one great infrastructure out there that you are placed in that there is everything around you,” he said.
