Osei Kyei-Mensah Bonsu, Majority Leader of Parliament, has warned embattled Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson not to appear on the floor of Parliament since he could be held for contempt.
This follows the annulment of the 2020 Parliamentary results in the Assin North Constituency.
The Cape Coast High court presided over by Justice Kwasi Boakye, ordered for fresh elections to be conducted in the Assin North constituency.
Handing his judgement on Wednesday, the judge said the MP, Joe Gyaakye Quayson violated constitutional provisions and other statutory provisions that guide Ghana’s elections.
Speaking on Peace FM, Hon Kyei-Mensah Bonsu said Mr Gyakye Quayson cannot step foot in Parliament because he currently do not belong to any political party of which he’ll be representing in the house.
This is because, at the time he stood for elections, he owed allegiance to another country.
Meanwhile the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of which the embattled MP belongs to, have vowed to ensure the ruling is overturned.
